With the changing trends of the society, our lives have been altered too. Hitting the malls and spending some Moolah’ is the idea of an ideal Sunday. Bedtime stories have a replacement with Radio Mirchi extending the time limit upto 2 in the morning. Movies no longer need a story line because maybe the mindsets of the common man are altering. After all, there is no hard and fast rule that a movie must have a gist always. Sometimes we find ourselves watching a completely hopeless movie without getting bored. Reason?! Well, the reason may be anything. Himesh Reshmiya adding to the music quotient of the movies, the chances of the movie going flop but famous, is more. Music definitely has diverted its path from ‘sounding good’ to just ‘Sound’! Being a Himesh Reshmiya fan myself I would not want to criticize him because he has proved his critics wrong. With accepting a voice like Himesh in the music industry we have literally accepted the changing like’s of the new generation. Lata Mangeshkar still remains the legend of the film fraternity but with Asha Bhonsale trying her hand at newer versions of compositions, it seems even the singers have learnt the bitter rule of the music industry.
The Rule being: He, who accepts, can still survive.
Then may it be, music directors tuning their chords according to the Hollywood harmony or then trying to create an image of them by mixing their songs in a unique style. Sometimes, remixes make me ponder. Do we actually need a change? What needs to be revitalized is the mindset that remixed music lasts. The last time my father played an old Hindi track all he told me was about some of his sweet memories from the college days. Now when I play the remixed version of the same old track, all he mutters is how the times have changed. Have the times really changed I asked myself a lot many times? The worried look on my fathers face as I walk back home at 8.30 pm tells it all. Times have changed. Just like the music, our lives have been remixed in a fashion that we have long forgotten what we are. Before we lose the synchronization of our life, we need to rejuvenate our senses to find the lost composer in our self. At a point where there is utter chaos around us, being in touch with the inner self can help us stay calm and alert to head any of the situations that emerge. Thus I conclude, music and life go hand in hand.

well the views of the generations have been changing since the begining when humans came to live together..and if any society has to grow its people have to change..and the biggest change can only be seen in their music..at the begining of the 19th Century..we had people like mozart, beethowen..who played music..which has a few takers..now..then we had different forms of music came like Jazz, Blues...Disco, RAP, Hip Hop...the biggest influence on the music of a society is brouth on eihter by the community that is the largest or teh most wealthiest,,cause they can force it easily..that is why it took so long for black music to come in world...and now we all r crazy abt it...abt our INdian Music..well it also has seens its up downs from the BAiju Bawara of 1930s to the Bappi Lahiris of 1970s(Flower Power)...to the Himesh Reshimiyas of 2000s(Tera Tera Suroor..i hate it..)and abt coming late..my Grandpa says coming home at 7 is too late and going for work at 1 in the morning is unnatural(worked for a call center for some time)..but for my dad it is okay..but he has issuses with paties or Discs..but that is the way it grows..i probably will issuses wid my chidlren not going out enough cause of technology u have evything at ur doorstep...that was just a small snippet...
Liking towards a particular genre/style of music by a particular set of people does not qualify it as a "trend". Offcourse if its by a major lot of people, then one tends to mistake it as a trend.
But look at the whole scene now, with Indian bands coming up with kickass tracks portraying originality, HIMESH n likes would be scarce in no matter of time. (Atleast from a major bunch of people) Infact of one observes closely, the HIMESH trend has caught up mostly with the "WOO--YEPPIIE--AM DA COOL ONE" crowd. Bottomline, it would fade,..
But I do see yr point, musical likes change with time n so does the lifestyle.
Frankly, I think its the most unappropriate way of saying "Life means music" or "music and life go hand in hand".
akshay shali: well himesh may be a pain in ass now..but u have to agree when he came on the music scene he did create some waves..he was a whiff of minty fresh air..and well sang in a peculiar from from his nose..or from where ever else.....i mean all of us did listen to him...even if it was forced by frnds...well abt trends..they change because people change, their choices change..and as u said that trends occur because of the masses.the same masses that bring up something..can & will bring it down like whats happening with Himesh..but again the bottomline is he music is selling at least for now...but there is one question in my mind...that if life is music then as our life changes..so shud our choice of music..but i dont think that happens with people..apart from few ups & down when some one wants to listen to soemthing different..people like to listen to same kind of music that they been listening to from their teenage years..only the frequency of listening reduces...one more thing thst iam pissed off at is the influx of music talent hunt shows( if by permission of manalee)..i think that is a hot topic because propbably the new himesha or lata mangeskars might be their...personally i think it is a lot of CRAP..where soem media personalities try to decide abt the talent & future of candidate..who cares abt their future..how many of us remeember abt Channel V pop Stars or that grup called ASSma( 2 boys & 2 Girls) or our very own INDIAN IDOL..Abijeet..where is he???..all this decided on the basis of some bloody votes..been an indian..where people would love to vote for their neighbourhood kid rather than the talented one, now they even have music talent show for teenages......
